We had our first group foreign trip this year, with four club members going to Sharm on 15th June, staying at Hotel Naama Blue (Shore photos) and diving with Emperor Divers.
Post Covid, travelling was fairly straightforward. Weather hot – temperatures up to around 38°C.
We were diving from Emperor’s boat Shoruk, (Onboard photos ) doing 2 dives a day, usually with an option to do a third. First couple of days we were diving Ras Mohamed, due to restrictions in the Tiran area, then the authorities banned all diving for one day, due to the president being in the area. After this we dived in Tiran area before returning to Ras Mohamed. The number of divers onboard varied daily between 8 and 20, but the dives were arranged so that it was always never an issue kitting up.
There was a good variety of life (Dive photos ) – Scorpionfish and octopus on Temple. Napoleonfish, tuna and jacks on Ras um Sid, eagle ray and a large stingray on Marsa Bareika. Ras Ghozlani had 3 large free swimming groupers when we entered the water, a large napoleonfish and a turtle down at 20m eating a jellyfish.
